Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed Saturday urged both opposition and ruling parties “to rise above petty politics and engage in political resolution of Kashmir”. He was speaking in the lower house of the state legislator.

He said all the problems will get solved if Kashmir Issue is resolved. “Killings in Kashmir will not stop until and unless the issue is resolved politically.”

He called for holding of plebiscite for the peaceful resolution of Kashmir issue.

Taking a dig at Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, he said that she has lost the credibility she possessed before taking over as CM.

“You turned emotional in every function while recalling your father,” he told Chief Minister, “But coffins were shouldered by fathers in Kashmir.”

Rasheed said that, government has turned blind on the people who were killed in the Kashmir in the uprising.

While referring to education minister for his “resistance ideology” in past and writing under different pen names like “Iffat”, he urged government to revoke suspension of the government employees who were terminated during last year’s uprising.

In his address, Rashid sought protection of the minorities living in Jammu province, alleging that they are being harassed.

“Ensure protection of minorities in Jammu,” he alleged, “they are slapped with PSAs, when they protest for lack of basic necessities like water and other issue.”

He said that the cop who killed Sikh boy in Jammu last year has been promoted. “Deaths are being celebrated and it has turned industry for some people.”

He said youth are joining militancy because of harassments they face at the hands of forces.

On the issue of naming Srinagar Airport, Rasheed asked the government that if it is afraid of displaying the name “Sheikh-ul-Alam Airport”, he will do it himself by placing a display board at the Srinagar Airport.

Rasheed demanded that a mosque and a Gurduwara should be set in Jammu secretariat.
