The locals held a protest and demanded a probe into the alleged misappropriation of Chief Minister’s Rs 15 Crore package.

“For the macadamization of roads in Kargil town and other developmental works to be carried out within the Municipal limits, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti announced a package of Rs 15 Crore, but ironically that package is being used for the development of link roads and villages,” the protesters told local news agency CNS.

They alleged that LAHDC Chairman Ahmed Ali Khan Kacho and MLC Haji Anayat Ali have used major chunk of funds for their respective constituencies. “Funds have been utilized for the development of villages like Urubal, Apathi, Bodh Khurbo, Chuutumail, Tumail that don’t fall within the city limits. Surprisingly, the Poyen area that is in the heart of Kargil district has been ignored and even macadamization process was not carried out there,” said the protesters.

They appealed Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to order a thorough probe in this regard.
