SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has disbursed Rs 3.21 crore in relief to families affected by flash floods and landslides in Rajouri, while a Rs 185 crore proposal has been prepared for the permanent restoration of 403 damaged roads and bridges in the district.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, replying to a question in the ongoing Assembly session on Monday, said 149 family-wise cases had been received from Rajouri constituency for relief under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) norms.
Of these, Rs 40.615 lakh had been disbursed to affected families in the constituency, he said. A further Rs 2.81 crore was released to Rajouri district from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund and subsequently distributed among eligible families according to approved norms.
On infrastructure damage, Omar said a preliminary assessment had been completed and a proposal costing Rs 185 crore had been formulated for the permanent restoration of 403 roads and bridges damaged in the district.
The Power Development Department assessed damage worth Rs 27.99 crore to electrical infrastructure in Rajouri following heavy rains and flash floods in July 2026. Of this, Rs 9.39 crore related to the Rajouri Assembly constituency.
Omar said power supply had been temporarily restored through the installation of an Emergency Restoration System tower on the 132 KV double-circuit Rajouri-Draba transmission line. The tendering process for its permanent restoration was under way, he added.
The government also conducted field-level verification of crop losses in Rajouri constituency during the Kharif 2026 season. Maize damage was assessed at 15 per cent across 406 hectares, while paddy damage stood at 65 per cent across 101.5 hectares.
Details of damage to municipal assets, Public Health Engineering infrastructure, flood-control works and roads and buildings were also placed before the House.
Separately, Rs 1.25 crore was received under the SDRF for temporary restoration of power supply in Rajouri district. Of this, Rs 57.6 lakh was allocated to Rajouri, Rs 43.4 lakh to Thanamandi and ₹10.5 lakh to Budhal.
