Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Choudhary Sham Lal Tuesday informed the legislative assembly that during the year 2015-16, a Comprehensive Plan – Priority Works for Management on River Jhelum Phase-I, has been approved at an estimated cost of Rs 399 crore. He said of this Rs 119.07 crore have been released so far, against which Rs 52.53 crore have been utilized on the allied works like construction of protection walls/toe walls, dredging works etc.

Replying to a question by Anjum Fazili, the minister further informed that Rs 38.41 crore has also been spent on various restoration works on river Jhelum from Islamabad to Srinagar under temporary and permanent basis after the 2014 floods.
