SRINAGAR: Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Handwara, Javed Naseem Masoodi, who also serves as the Adjudicating Officer, on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs 44,000 on several food business operators (FBOs) for violating provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act (FS&SA), 2006.
Officials said the penalty was imposed on traders found selling misbranded and substandard food items during proceedings of cases listed before the adjudicating authority under the Act.
The Adjudicating Officer warned the erring traders to strictly adhere to legal regulations, cautioning that any future non-compliance with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, and its rules would be dealt with greater strictness.
