SRINAGAR: Minister for Jal Shakti Department, Javed Ahmad Rana, informed the Legislative Assembly on Monday that Rs 451.99 lakh has been incurred on the Lift Irrigation Scheme Peth Devsar, which was prepared under NABARD at an estimated cost of Rs 452.69 lakh.

Replying to a question raised by Legislator Peerzada Feroze Ahmad, the Minister said the scheme could not be commissioned due to a sharp increase in land costs—from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 80.91 lakh—following the implementation of the Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (LARR) Act, 2013, in August 2019.
Rana added that the department is currently examining the modalities to cover the balance funds in accordance with the revised rates and guidelines. He said further steps would be taken once this examination is complete and in line with the applicable financial rules.
