Rs 640.78 Lakhs Facilities Inaugurated at GMC Anantnag

   

SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, on Saturday virtually inaugurated key infrastructure projects worth Rs 640.78 lakhs at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag from the Civil Secretariat.

The projects include a state-of-the-art fire-fighting system, G+3 lift facilities and a comprehensive Water Supply Scheme (WSS), aimed at strengthening patient safety and improving essential services at the medical institution.

The virtual inauguration was attended by MLA Anantnag West Abdul Majeed Larmi, MLA Anantnag East–Shangus Reyaz Ahmad Khan, Principal GMC Anantnag Dr Rukhsana Najeeb, heads of various medical specialities, doctors and a large number of medical students.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the Government remains committed to upgrading healthcare institutions with modern infrastructure and essential facilities, particularly in peripheral and underserved areas, to ensure equitable access to quality healthcare services.

She said the newly installed fire-fighting system has been developed in accordance with modern safety standards to enhance preparedness and protect patients, staff and critical medical infrastructure. The Water Supply Scheme has been designed to ensure uninterrupted water supply to hospital wards, operation theatres, laboratories and residential quarters, playing a vital role in maintaining hygiene and sanitation.

The Minister added that the newly inaugurated G+3 lift facilities will improve vertical mobility within the hospital complex, facilitating smoother movement of patients, attendants, healthcare personnel and medical equipment, especially benefiting elderly patients, persons with disabilities and critical care services.

MLAs Abdul Majeed Larmi and Reyaz Ahmad Khan also addressed the gathering.

Officials said the facilities mark another milestone in the Jammu and Kashmir Government’s efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery and develop resilient, patient-centric medical institutions across the Union Territory.
