Rs 9.78 Cr Road Projects Underway in Beerwah: Govt

   

SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday informed the Legislative Assembly that around 30 road construction works have been taken up for execution under the Pothole and Cities and Towns (CT) programmes during the 2025–26 financial year.

Responding to a question raised by legislator Shafi Ahmad Wani, the Deputy Chief Minister said that works worth an estimated Rs 519.34 lakh have been undertaken under the Potholes programme. These include improvement and upgradation of multiple link roads and inner road networks across areas such as Aarath to Rassu, Checki Kawoosa, Kawoosa Khalisa, Mazhama, Batpora, SK Pora, Shipora, Chayers Khulchi Road, Lalpora, Gooripora, Peth Kanihama, Hajibagh Paripora, Peth Makhama, Bonmakhama, Bonhama, Meri Pora Rathsuna, Cheyra Khalchi Road, Watmagam, Rathsun and Chewdara.

He further stated that additional works, including upgradation and improvement of key link roads at Narbal, Beerwah–Budgam Road, Iskanderpora–Loolipora Road, and macadamisation of inner links at Sonapah, are currently under execution in the Beerwah constituency.

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed the House that 12 works under the Cities and Towns (CT) programme, with an estimated cost of Rs 459 lakh, have been taken up for the 2025–26 fiscal in the same constituency.

He added that the remaining road construction works in Beerwah will be taken up in the near future. He also clarified that no Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) are currently under preparation or consideration for the “Pethkoot–Dasan” and “Hokhlateri” roads under NABARD or any other scheme.

Legislator Saif Ud Din Bhat raised a supplementary question during the discussion.
