The Minister for Health and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din Wednesday visited SMHS Hospital where he informed hospital management that Government has already released Rs. 9 crore for purchase of new equipment and machinery at the Hospital. He also said that the government has decided that Bio Chemical and Pathological tests at the Hospital would be conducted free of cost for three months.

The minister said SMHS Hospital and its associated Hospitals have suffered damages to the extent of Rs. 256 crore and assessment report of the same is being sent to the Centre. 

The Minister also was briefed about the cleaning up operation and repairs being done to machines and equipments for which experts from companies like Siemens and Toshiba have flown here. As per a statement Taj was informed that surgical services at the Hospital have been resumed and surgical ICUs have been restarted. Moreover, some new machinery is being got from places like Goa and it would be put in use as quickly as possible.

The Minister appreciated the role and dedication displayed by the doctors in these tough times during which they volunteered for patient care and even went to the extent of cleaning the Hospitals.

Principal Government Medical College, Srinagar Dr. Rafiq Pampori and Medical Superintendent SMHS Hospital, Dr Nazir Ahmed accompanied the Minister during his visit to the Hospital.
