Results of the Rajya Sabha polls may get slightly delayed – by half an hour, as the Returning Officer is waiting for the Election Commission nod. Permission for counting from the election body is mandatory, reports said.

“Everything is ready but the counting is yet to start,” a lawmaker told KL. “We are told that they are waiting for the permission for permission which is yet to come.”

The polling for the four seats was over by 5 pm. However, the lawmakers had cast their votes well in time. There are four seats covered by weekend polls having three rounds of elections.

In the first two rounds, the election was a smooth sailing for the BJP-PDP combine. It is only the third round of poling for two seats that was the most challenging one. It was in the last round of polling that was extremely crucial to Congress veteran Ghulam Nabi Azad whose political career is linked to the outcome.
