The Hindu nationalist Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in its defence to give arms training to women in winter capital of J&K has termed “Stone pelting as Un-Islamic”.
“Muslim community should unanimously condemn stone pelting rather than be suspicious of training camps where women were taught self-defence to protect their honour,” an RSS functionar told The Economic Times in an interview.
The RSS said that despite amnesty to scores of stone pelters, the return of stone pelters to streets should be a “major concern for all”.
Notably, RSS has been taking out armed rallies across Jammu and recently, women with daggers being given arms training in an RSS associated camp in Jammu triggered widespread political reaction across the state.
The 15-day long training program of women wing of Rashtra Sevika Samiti’s (RSS) concluded last Sunday at the Mubarak Mandi complex in Jammu.
RSS All India Chief Organizer, Shanta Kumari had said the women have immense power if they recognize their potential and utilize it properly. “25 women have been trained in first year camp of RSS, while 52 women received training in the second year camp.”
A rally was taken out across Jammu city on July 04 (Monday) after the training camp concluded.
“Muslims and Islam at a larger level should unanimously condemn stone pelting. Does Islam allow all this?” a senior RSS functionary, Indresh Kumar.
He even asked “these stone pelters to thank J&K government for being hugely pardoned for their sins”.
Kumar is also ‘margdarshak’ of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, a party floated to reach out to the minority community across India.
He termed arms training to women in Jammu as “self-defence”. “Self-defence training is allowed as per our Constitution. If it was not so, the government would have taken action in any part of India,” said Kumar.
