Expressing deep concern and anguish over the heavily armed procession taken out by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Jammu city, Chairman All Parties Hurriyat Conference (g) Syed Ali Geelani Sunday lashed out at Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for handing over the “entire control of the Jammu & Kashmir state into the hands of communal and fascist forces and for working as an employee of Sangh Parivar merely for his chair”.
While terming this situation as “alarming”, Geelani expressed his apprehensions that the “Jammu region is preparing to repeat the history of 1947 and the state administration is not only silently watching this but they are providing every possible help to the fanatic people of the region”.
A Hurriyat (g) statement said that while expressing solidarity with the Muslims and other minorities of the Jammu division, Geelani assured them “that we will stand by them in every kind of situations and they will not be left on the mercy of the communal and fascist forces”.
“We are closely monitoring the situations prevailing in the state,” he said.
Geelani, who continues to be under house arrest, said, “our concerns about Jammu division is not based on any hypothetical theory but the kind of aggressiveness which the people related to the Sangh Parivar are showing against the Muslims, Christens, Sikhs and Dalits in India have attracted the concerns of the whole world and this growing intolerance has terrified the entire minorities of this country.”
The octogenarian freedom leader said, “the state of Jammu & Kashmir is on primary target and priority of the communal forces. Kashmiri people has although never accepted the forced military occupation of India so they are from the very first day working on a plan to change the demographic character of this Muslim majority state. To attain this objective the communal fanatics massacred lakhs of innocent Muslims in the Jammu region in 1947 and for that purpose they can go to any extent even today.”
He said, “since the inception of the BJP coalition government in the state, the ill-minded people sitting in Nagpur headquarters are in hurry to implement their long pending evil plans and for that purpose they want to use the state power at its full potential to change the present status and demography of the disputed Kashmir.”
The statement said that Geelani expressed his deep sorrow “that just for chair, Mufti Sayeed and few other leaders of his party are playing the role of facilitators for the communal people and they have mortgaged the national interest, pride and every other thing with these fanatic people”.
“Geelani also expressed his sorrow over the character of those partners of Mufti Sayeed who despite knowing and understanding everything are still working with him,” the statement added.
“They are clearly witnessing the role of Mufti Sayeed that how is he facilitating the elimination of the Muslim identity of the state and how is he without any objection obeying the dictation of the communal people. The history will never forgive Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and he will always be remembered as such a person who in the greed of chair and power pushed the people of the state into such a trouble which they remember as the bloodshed of 1947,” Geelani said.
