SRINAGAR: Activists of the Jammu Kashmir RTI Movement organised a candlelight vigil in Chadoora town on Friday evening to honour the victims of the Pahalgam massacre. The activists also raised concerns over the safety and security of Kashmiri people living outside the region, particularly students. “We are neither tour operators nor involved in any tourism trade, but as common Kashmiris, our hearts bleed for the victims of Pahalgam. At the same time, we feel deeply sorry for our students who are being attacked and thrashed in various parts of India,” Dr Bhat said. He condemned the open threat made by Hindu Raksha Dal in Dehradun, calling for the expulsion of Kashmiri students, describing it as “unacceptable” and demanding accountability for such actions.

Social activists from Chadoora, including Dr Shahzada Salim, Shahnawaz Sultan, Jahangir Rashid, Iqbal Parray, Mudaser Yatoo, Raja Amir Khan, Shabir Musroof, Younus Bhat, Tahir Najar, and Amir Sohail, also participated in the vigil.
