SRINAGAR: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) Kashmir announced restrictions on e-rickshaws along two key routes in Srinagar, designating them as prohibited corridors to ease vehicular movement in the city.
A notice issued by Regional Transport Officer Qazi Irfan (JKAS) stated that the measure follows a decision taken during the Regional Transport Authority meeting held on November 13, 2025.
The stretches now barred to e-rickshaws are Maulana Azad Road from Jehangir Chowk to the JK Bank headquarters, and Residency Road from Hari Singh High Street to the JK Bank headquarters.
The directive has been enforced with immediate effect and will remain applicable until further orders.
The RTO has warned that breaches of the order will attract penalties under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, along with its corresponding rules.
