In what could be a major embarrassment for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led by chief minister Mehbooba Mufti as its senior leader and lawmaker from Srinagar’s Zadibal has said the popularity of the party is fast declining and alleged that party is being run by “non-performers.”

MLA Zadibal Abid Ansari

Cautioning that immediate steps are needed to ensure fast track revival of the party, Ansari, who is the younger brother of late Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari said: “if immediate steps are not taken for fast-track revival of Peoples Democratic Party the vision of party patron late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed can’t be fulfilled.”

How come the party can expect such leaders to revive the party at the grassroots in the difficult times through which the people of Jammu and Kashmir are passing nowadays.

Talking to a local news agency, Ansari said the party is presently run mostly by some non-performers and while expressing dismay said: “how come the party can expect such leaders to revive the party at the grassroots in the difficult times through which the people of Jammu and Kashmir are passing nowadays.”

Lauding the efforts of late PDP patron and incumbent party chief, he said “late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the incumbent chief minister Mehbooba Mufti had jointly put up exemplary efforts for taking the party to the people at grass roots” and said party workers should strengthen the hands of chief minister Mehbooba Mufti who also holds the presidency of the party to revive the party at the grassroots.

Urging Mehbooba to take stock of the working of the party, Ansari said party president should take immediate steps for reviving the party at the grassroots to bring it on the path of fighting the rival political voices successfully with full might.
