SRINAGAR: Two rusted high-explosive mortar shells were found and later destroyed in a controlled explosion in Chingus-Kaneti village of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.
Official sources said that the shells were unearthed by a local farmer while ploughing his field with a tractor. The farmer immediately alerted the authorities.
Soon after receiving the information, a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) reached the spot and destroyed both shells safely through a controlled detonation.
No injury or damage was reported during the operation, while police have taken cognisance of the incident. (JKNS)
