Sack Director Health for Involvement in Drug kits Scam: DAK

KL Report

SRINAGAR

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday said that despite involvement of Dr Saleem ul Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir in drug kits scam, he continues to be on his position.

President DAK Dr Nisar ul Hassan said that Dr Saleem should be sacked for his involvement in drug kits scandal and government has no justification to continue him on his position, DAK spokesperson in a statement said.

“State vigilance organization has registered a criminal case FIR No 32/2012 under section 5 (1) DR/W, 5/2 J&K PC Act 2006 and section 120-B RPC against Dr Saleem under the prevention of corruption act for his involvement in drug kits scam”, he said.

The verification conducted by vigilance organization has prima-facie established that the purchase of drug kits by Dr Saleem in the year 2011 was in violation of the conditions of supply order and guidelines of government, he said.

The majority of drug kits were purchased from a particular private firm whereas in supply order it was mandatory that all drugs should be supplied by central pharmaceutical subsidiary enterprises (CPSE’s), he said.

Several drugs which were purchased were not included in the approved list of 103 medicines that was against the purchase preference policy (PPP) of government of India, he said.

Dr Saleem in order to facilitate the commission of crime constituted a purchase committee on his own ignoring the central purchase committee/subcommittee already constituted by government for the purpose, he said.

Despite involvement of Dr Saleem in a grave crime he was shielded by his political masters in previous government, he said.

DAK urges new government to sack Dr Saleem immediately and he should be prosecuted for his involvement in criminal activity, the spokesperson added.
