Sadna Top avalanche: Five bodies recovered, man rescued alive

Five bodies have been recovered by joint teams of army, police, and SDRF with the help of locals from the site of an avalanche near Sadhna Top in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, SHO Wasim Badoo told Kashmir life over the phone.

He said one person namely Gh Nabi Bhat of kalmoona vilgam has been evacuated in injured condition and referred to Kupwara hospital.

He added that a search is on for the other missing passengers. One of the three bodies recovered has been identified as that of Muneer Hussain Shah.

At least eight passengers, including three women, went missing on Friday after a snow avalanche swept away a passenger sumo they were travelling in, at high altitude, Khoni Nallah near Sadhna top, en-route border town Karnah in Kupwara district.
