Sagar, Madni among three leaders booked under PSA

Three senior political leaders, who have been in detention since August last year, were on Thursday booked under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA), reports quoted officials as saying.

Reports said that senior National Conference leader and former minister Ali Mohammed Sagar, former NC legislator Bashir Ahmed Veeri, and Sartaj Madani, the maternal uncle of PDP chief and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti were booked under Public Safety Act (PSA).

Sagar and PDP leader Sartaj Madni, were shifted from the MLA hostel to a government building M5 on the highly secure Gupkar road, which has been designated as a sub-jail.

They were detained in the aftermath of August 5 crackdown by the Centre on politicians following the abrogation of the special status of the erstwhile state, besides its bifurcation into two union territories.
