Addressing the Assembly, Lone said that while there was relief over Abdullah’s safe return, the person who played a crucial role in saving him remains unnamed and unacknowledged. He termed this unfair and urged that the individual be publicly honoured.

Describing Abdullah as a prominent and dynamic political figure, Lone expressed satisfaction over his safety and emphasised the need to recognise acts of courage.

He also remarked that the use of security mechanisms for political purposes has been a recurring reality across governments, asserting that while security must never be compromised, there should be honesty in acknowledging past practices.

Lone stressed that safeguarding lives must remain the top priority while calling for transparency in governance.

Farooq Abdullah, a former chief minister and national conference president, narrowly escaped the attack on March 11 when a 63-year-old man opened fire at close range as he was leaving a wedding function in the Greater Kailash area of Jammu. The assailant was immediately overpowered and arrested with a revolver.
