SRINAGAR: Peoples Conference President and Handwara MLA, Sajad Lone, on Saturday strongly criticized the government in the Assembly for failing to disclose commercial lease data, despite his repeated requests over three sessions.
Lone highlighted that his questions about commercial leases have gone unanswered during two budget sessions and the Srinagar session. He emphasized that the public has the right to know the extent of government land under commercial lease and the revenue generated from it.
He also noted that he had formally written to the Speaker in a previous session seeking intervention and had been assured in writing that the information would be provided. “This time also, I didn’t get an answer,” Lone said, pointing to a pattern of unfulfilled assurances.
Questioning the government’s intent, he asked why such crucial information was being withheld. Lone warned that continued evasion undermines transparency and accountability within the Assembly.
