SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo, along with Advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Wednesday visited the Irrigation and Flood Control Room at Rambagh to review the prevailing flood situation and preparedness measures.
Chairing a brief meeting at the Control Room Sakeena Itoo directed officers to ensure real-time dissemination of information and prompt response in case of any eventuality.
She directed officials for keeping men and machinery on high alert near Jhelum embankments to prevent breaches and called for close coordination among departments for effective flood management.
Speaking to media persons, Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani said that water levels are continuously rising due to heavy rainfall in South Kashmir.
“The water is now reaching Srinagar. We hope that embankments here do not breach, if they hold, that will be good news,” he stated, adding that all departments are on full alert and monitoring loopholes to prevent any crisis. (KNC)
