SRINAGAR: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare, and Higher Education, Sakeena Masood Itoo, highlighted the transformative role of science and technology in modern life at the inaugural session of the two-day Jammu and Kashmir Science Congress-2024 held at Government College for Women (GCW), Srinagar.
The event was organised in collaboration with the JK Science, Technology and Innovation Council, Department of Science and Technology. It was themed “Scientific Endeavours, Innovations, and Exploring New Possibilities.”
In her address, Sakeena Masood emphasised that scientific innovations are breaking barriers and creating new opportunities in various fields. She underlined the importance of harnessing the potential of science and technology to improve the lives of ordinary citizens, particularly in sectors such as agriculture and industry. The Minister stressed the need for stronger academia-industry collaboration to fully exploit these innovations.
“We are living in an era where science is revolutionising every aspect of our lives,” she said, while also assuring the Omar Abdullah-led government’s commitment to supporting education and scientific initiatives.
Itoo expressed her pleasure at attending her first official event as Minister at the Government Women’s College, lauding the institution for its historical role in women’s empowerment.
On the occasion, Sakeena Masood Itoo released the Science Congress Souvenir, college magazine- The Pamposh, and the newsletter- College Times.
