A photograph of Khan from the film set has circulated widely on social media, coinciding with Lakhia’s announcement that production has officially commenced. He described the project as “a heartfelt tribute to the courage and sacrifice of Indian soldiers”, reports NDTV.

The film is based on the June 15, 2020, clash in Galwan Valley, where Indian troops led by Colonel Bikkumalla Santosh Babu engaged with Chinese forces in eastern Ladakh. Colonel Babu, who lost his life in the confrontation, was posthumously awarded the Maha Vir Chakra, the country’s second-highest wartime gallantry honour.

Khan will play the role of Colonel Babu, with the storyline expected to blend nationalism, high-intensity action and an emotional retelling of the events that marked a turning point in India-China relations.

Industry sources said the production is making extensive use of Ladakh’s rugged landscapes to recreate the atmosphere of the Galwan Valley, aiming to add authenticity to the narrative.

The film has already drawn significant attention within the industry, with critics and trade observers calling it one of Khan’s most patriotic roles.
