A militant and two Indian army soldiers were killed in a gunfight between forces and militants on Thursday in Samboora area of southern Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The militant killed in the gunfight was identified as Badar, who was associated with Jaish-e-Mohammad, reports said.

Two militants are believed to have given slip to forces during the encounter.

Earlier, on Thursday evening, Police and the forces started a cordon and search operation in Samboora following intelligence inputs about the presence of militants there. However, as the forces closed on the house where militants were staying, they were fired upon and retaliated, triggering the gunfight.

Meanwhile, as thge two sides continued firing on each other, local youth took to streets and started pelting stones on forces personnel who retaliated by firing tear smoke shells.
