The alleged vandalization of cemetery signboard at the hands of men in uniform sparked protests and spontaneous shutdown in Samboora area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Sources told CNS that on August 14 some youth had allegedly unfurled Pakistani flags over the top of cemetery sign board. The cops according to locals appeared during the dead of the night and vandalized the signboard of the grave yard.

All the shops and business establishments in the area remained closed as a mark of protest.

Locals while resenting the action of cops amid anti-India slogans staged a protest and observed a complete shutdown in the area. The locals said that the signboard had some religious messages inscribed on it while men in uniform allegedly did not show any respect to it and damaged it completely.

Despite repeated attempts, no police official commented on the issue.
