“Same Rules for All”: Sajad Lone Reacts to Engineer Rashid’s Bail Extension

SRINAGAR: After a Delhi court extended the interim bail of Er Rashid, Member of Parliament for the North Kashmir Lok Sabha seat, until October 28, People’s Conference (PC) Chief and MLA from Handwara, Sajad Lone, called for equal treatment in all bail cases.

Taking to social media platform X, Lone appealed to the Delhi court to demonstrate the same “magnanimity” in other cases, particularly those involving older and ailing individuals, as it did in Rashid’s case.

“My hand-folded request to the court in Delhi: Please can you show the same magnanimity in extending bail or giving bail as you are showing in the case of a VIP accused, a serving MP,” Lone wrote. He referred to past instances where two individuals died in custody in similar or related cases without being granted bail, underscoring the need for fairness.

Lone highlighted the plight of many accused individuals who, despite suffering from various health conditions and facing domestic issues, have not been granted bail. “Most of the other accused are old, have multiple diseases. And they too need some relief. They have families too. They are humans too,” he added.

“Let there be no two sets of rules. Let the same rules apply to all,” he said.
