SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday issued the following statement regarding Sangam attack saying that today at about 1910hrs Anantnag Police received information about a crime incident at Main chowk Sangam area of Bijbehara where militants hurled a grenade upon CRPF bunker.

A police spokesman in a statement said that senior police officers reached at the crime spot.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that militants had hurled a grenade upon bunker of 96Bn CRPF at Main chowk Sangam area of Bijbehara. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on road. In this incident, two civilians got injured and were evacuated to a nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” he said.

“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. The investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. The area has been cordoned and searches in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.
