A resident of Ganderbla who runs a shop near New Bridge Sumbal area of Bandipora District Saturday alleged that he was kidnapped by a Sarpanch and his associates who after beating him mercilessly recorded his video in which he was forced to claim that he on the behest of a local PDP leader is planning to attack Higher Education Minister with a grenade.
Sources told CNS that, Shaheen Ahmed Wani son of Late Ghulam Muhammad Wani resident of Sehpora Ganderbal was allegedly kidnapped by Sarpanch Ajas Bandipora Wasim Ahmed and his associates on Friday.
Shaheen Wani according to report approached Court where he recorded his statement before First class Judicial Magistrate who accordingly directed police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
The relative of Shaheen told CNS that Shaheen was abducted by Sarpanch and his associates. “He was beaten ruthlessly and the abductors forced him to claim that Peoples Democratic Party leader Yasir Reshi and his associate Siraj-u-Din Reshi provided him cash to attack National Conference leader and MLA Sonawari Muhammad Akbar Lone with a grenade. In order to save himself from the cruel abductors, Shaheen did what he was directed to do. Court has taken the cognizance of the case and police has started inquiry into the matter,” he said.
A police official on condition of anonymity told CNS that police is investigating the matter and hopefully Sarpanch and other accused will be arrested soon. He further said that Shaheen has recorded his statement in police station and investigation has been taken up as per the directions from Court.
Meanwhile, PDP District president for Bandipora, Yasir Reshi told CNS that it was an attempt to defame him among people. Reshi said that he is hopeful that police will thoroughly investigate the matter and expose these elements before public.
When contacted Higher Education Minister Muhammad Akbar Lone said that police has informed me about the development. “I have told police to investigate the matter but I am shocked that local PDP leader is trying to subdue me by using money and power,” he said.
