SRINAGAR: A Sarpanch affiliated with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Audura area of Kulgam on Friday.
Quoting official sources the news agency KNO reported that a Sarpanch identified as Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Abdullah Mir was fired upon by unidentified gunmen at Audua area.
He was immediately taken to DH hospital here where doctors declared him brought dead.
MS DH Kulgam said that he had received a bullet in the abdomen and was brought dead at the hospital.
This is the second killing of a Sarpanch in Kashmir this week. Earlier a sarpanch identified as Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Rasheed Bhat was shot dead at Khonmoh area in the outskirts of Srinagar.
