SRINAGAR

Government of India is mulling to set up ‘Amarnath Nagar’ in and around Amarnath Cave, the Chairman Hurriyat Conference (G), Syed Ali Geelani has said, “As for my reports Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) in league with the government is busy in constructing huts and buildings at different places enroute to Amarnath Cave. It is a serious matter and we must show our concern in this regard.”

Geelani told Srinagar based news gathering agency CNS that government of India in a bid to change the demography of the Jammu and Kashmir is pushing non-state subjects into Jammu and issuing Permanent Resident Certificates in their favour.

He said it is alarming that the population of Jammu has been shown more than Srinagar city. “India with the help of its ‘paid-agents’ in Jammu and Kashmir has succeeded in changing the demographic nature of the State and I warn people that if they acted as mute spectator they will certainly lose their identity one day,” he said adding that in a planned manner Kashmiri people are being subjugated in one way or the other.

“If you will compare the population ratio of Kashmir with Jammu then you will easily understand what India has achieved since 1947. We are losing our identity. Kashmiryat is almost over. By destroying our social order India is achieving its goal and we are losing the ground,” Geealni told CNS adding that it is the obligation of media to highlight these issues and expose the crafty designs of India.

He claimed that SASB with the help of government is busy in constructing roads and huts in and around the Amarnath Cave. “SASB which has become a ‘State within the State’ is planning to set up ‘Amarnath Nagar’ where buildings and quarters will be constructed for the non-state subjects. The government has already pushed thousands of people from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Punjab into Jammu and these have been granted PRCs and now they are intending to settle these outsiders in Kashmir as well,” he said.

Geelani said that government of India have resorted to ‘cultural aggression’ and are “hell -bent to demoralize the fabric of social order”.

“They are encouraging the drug addition, waywardness and immoral activities among the youth,” he alleged and said that government encourages and give shelters to debauch’s like Gulzar Bhat and help them to propagate immorality.

Geelani expressed his concern over the plunder of state resources and added that they want to “make us dependent even for petty matters.”
