SRINAGAR: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has expressed concern over any further US military escalation against Iran during a phone conversation with US President Donald Trump, as Washington considers additional military action in the region, AP reported.
According to a person familiar with the discussion, the Saudi leader sought details about the possible options being considered by the Trump administration against Tehran. Riyadh is said to be worried that any large-scale US strikes, particularly those targeting Iran’s energy or other critical infrastructure, could trigger retaliatory attacks on Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states.
The conversation came as President Trump reviews potential military responses involving Iran. Saudi officials reportedly fear that any widening of the conflict could threaten energy installations across the Gulf, raising the risk of broader regional instability.
The White House has not commented publicly on the reported phone call.
Saudi Arabia has maintained a delicate balance during the ongoing five-month conflict. While it recently joined the United States in strikes against logistics and weapons facilities used by Iranian-backed militias in Iraq, the kingdom has also continued to advocate for renewed diplomatic engagement between Washington and Tehran.
In a parallel diplomatic effort, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman travelled to Washington earlier this week for separate meetings with President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The discussions focused on the evolving security situation and possible approaches to dealing with Iran.
