The State Bank of India Tuesday donated a 4KV off grid solar system to the Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) located at Bemina, Srinagar as a part of its CSR efforts under recently passed norms mandating corporates to earmark 2 percent of their net profit before tax for undertaking CSR activities.
The donation was overseen by Chairman SBI Arundhati Bhattacharya who is on a visit to Valley. Addressing the audience, she reiterated the SBI’s “commitment for continuation of Corporate Social Responsibility as a responsible corporate.”
VMS is a special facility that treats and rehabilitates physically and mentally challenged persons especially children. On the event, the specially-abled children made a rendition of traditional folk songs.
Chief General Manager SBI Anil Khora and General Manager NW –III, LHO Chandigarh, Kumar Rajan were also present on the occasion.
