The Supreme Court Monday adjourned the hearing in Haji Yousf mysterious death case.

A Division Bench of the Supreme Court comprising Justice Surinder Singh Nijjar and Justice F M Ibrahim Kalifulla adjourned the hearing of ‘custodial death’ case of late Haji Mohammad Yousuf Shah.

The Panthers Party MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia had filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Supreme Court seeking direction to the Government of Jammu and Kashmir to hold an independent inquiry into the circumstances that led to the death  of Shah that took place in between September 29-30, 2011 .

Prof. Bhim Singh, had also challenged appointment of an inquiry commission headed by Justice H.S. Bedi, a retired Judge of the Supreme Court.

The petitioner seeks Yousf’s ‘custodial death’ should be investigated by an independent agency CBI. He has also sought direction of the Supreme Court to register FIR on the death of Haji Yousuf.
