AIP founder and MLA Langate, Sheikh Rasheed has said that the supreme court judgment is like a slap for those advocating for restoration of autonomy and projecting it as a solution to Kashmir dispute.

“Whatsoever Supreme Court has said is nothing new but continuity of the process to proceed for the completer merger of J&K into Indian state,” engineer said, according to a parry statement. “However New Delhi needs to understand that such steps can neither break the will of Kashmiris nor can they be presented as an argument before world community to stop Kashmiris from seeking right to self determination.”

Rashid said that unionist parties including PDP and NC should realise that Delhi doesn’t care even about giving some face saving to those who are representing and defending Delhi’s very week stand on J&K. These parties should stop diluting Kashmir dispute and must stand up for right to self determination, he said.

Rasheed asked NC leadership to come clean whether Farooq Abdulla’s offer to support and join Huriyat is still there or what Omar Abdullah has said at Kupwara by distancing from Huriyat is true.

The lawmaker, according to his party’s statement, condemned few Jammu based political parties including BJP for trying to divert attention from being focused on killers of Khalid Muzaffar Wani to sanctioning of ex-gratia in favour of family of the slain.

“It is strange that while family has rejected the ex-gratia, radical elements are still making hue and cry only to defend the killers of Khalid Muzaffar,” Rasheed said. “These Jammu bases political parties should restrain from insulting martyrs and victims of state terrorism. Do they mean that every Kashmiri whose relative is a militant should be killed in the name of so called national interest? At least Mehbooba Mufi should dare to seek few crucial answers from her Sang Parivar colleagues over Khalid Muzaffar’s murder”.
