SRINAGAR: Peoples Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday criticised the judiciary, alleging that observations made during court proceedings do not always correspond with the eventual judgments.
So what ? Over the last ten years, the judiciary has repeatedly normalised acts that amount to contempt of court and simply moved on. Lofty observations are made in court, but when the time comes to deliver a judgement, the outcome is often entirely at odds with those very remarks.

Her remarks came after Chief Justice of India Surya Kant said the Supreme Court had not approved the Election Commission’s modified Form 6 for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Reacting to the observation in a post on X, Mehbooba alleged that the judiciary had, over the past decade, repeatedly normalised acts that amounted to contempt of court.
She said courts often make strong observations during hearings, but their eventual rulings can differ substantially from those remarks.
Mehbooba, a former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister, made the remarks while commenting on the Supreme Court’s position regarding the Election Commission’s modified Form 6.
