SRINAGAR: The Supreme Court of India has dismissed the plea by the Ladakh administration opposing the allotment of the ‘plough’ symbol to the National Conference and imposed a cost of Rupees One Lakh on the Ladakh Administration for filing the petition.

The court further held that the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Party is entitled to the ‘plough’ symbol.

The Supreme Court has also set aside the notification issued by the Union Territory of Ladakh for the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) election in the Kargil region, which was scheduled on September 10. The apex court has directed the issuance of a fresh notification within seven days for the LAHDC election.

Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) started facing problems in the arid Ladakh desert, which operates as a separate Union Territory.
