Bomb scare spread in old city’s Babademb area Tuesday morning when a posse of police and paramilitary party entered the premises of a private middle school and directed the staff and students to vacate the building saying “leave, there is an IED in the school!”
As the frightened staff and students came out in horde, tense moments ensued in the area. Immediately, top police officials turned up on the scene including locals to access the situation.
But what followed shortly mocked the whole exercise.
“We thought there is an IED inside a bottle kept in the school premises,” said a police official from Khanyar Police Station, situated in front of school building. “What the moment bomb disposal squad approached near the bottle, it turned out to be an empty bottle.” As the funny secret was out, some cops left the spot laughing.
Soon the school authorities were recalled and thus the class work restarted.
