SRINAGAR: Schools in Budhal village of Rajouri reopened on Saturday after being shut for two months due to a mysterious illness that claimed 17 lives, including 14 children.
The schools were closed on January 23, and the village was declared a containment zone following the outbreak. An official said that the decision to resume classes on March 4 was taken as the examination session approaches, ensuring students do not fall behind academically.
To compensate for the academic loss, the authorities have reduced the examination syllabus, the official added.
Meanwhile, the exact cause of the illness remains unknown, and investigations are ongoing. (JKNS)
