SRINAGAR: A protest erupted in Badami Bagh area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar after an army vehicle allegedly hit a scooty in the area and the person riding on the scooty was killed.
An eyewitness said that a scooty bearing registration number JKO1AD 0992 was hit by an army vehicle near Tank at Badami Bagh cantonment in Srinagar. He said that the youth died on the spot.
Witnesses said the scooty that also had a pillion rider was moving out of Srinagar, so was the alleged army vehicle. While one of the scooty riders died, another, locals said was injured and has been driven to hospital.
Later people blocked the local road and staged a protest demanding action against the army official driving vehicle which led to the accident. One cop was injured in stone-pelting and was rushed to the army hospital for treatment, witnesses said.
A police officer from Ram Manshibagh police station confirmed the incident and said a senior team of police rushed to the spot and are trying to pacify the angry protestors assuring them action against the Army driver.
