SE M Amin Malik Has Passed Away

   

SRINAGAR: Mohammad Amin Malik, a retired Superintendent Engineer, passed away on May 22, 2024, after a brief illness at his residence in Rawalpora Housing Colony, Srinagar. He was a well-known and popular figure in engineering circles, highly respected for his professional competence, skills, and dedication. Malik was involved in several important and prestigious projects, including SKIMS Soura.

He is survived by his wife, two sons—Dr Nasir Malik and Engineer Tahir Malik—and his daughter, Naheed Amin. His legacy in the engineering community will be remembered and cherished by many.

Family sources said Malik passed away at home after being unwell for some time. He was 87.

Malik was the brother of Kashmir’s two journalists, Mohammad Sayeed Malik and Zahoor Malik. While Sayeed Sahib was his elder brother, Zahoor was his youngest.

“Though younger, Amin Saheb’s extraordinary qualities of head and heart enabled us to look at each other as friends,” Sayeed Malik wrote on his FB wall. “His unostentatious spiritual calibre endeared him to the community which he served with equal devotion. His professional colleagues recount their pleasant experience of working with him and thankfully acknowledged his technical calibre.”

Born in Pinjoora village of Shopian, most of the Malik clan now lives in Srinagar.
