Search Enters Third Day for Missing Srinagar Man Who Jumped into River Jhelum

   

SRINAGAR: Search operations to trace a 25-year-old man who reportedly jumped into the River Jhelum at Sempora entered the third consecutive day on Saturday, with rescue teams continuing efforts to recover his body.

The operation is being jointly carried out by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Quick Response Team (QRT) Pantha Chowk, SDRF QRT Battalion Headquarters Srinagar and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) in the River Jhelum at Sempora, Pantha Chowk.

The missing man has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Mir, 25, a resident of Balhama in Srinagar.

According to officials, Sajad Ahmad Mir reportedly jumped into the River Jhelum on July 23. Since then, multiple rescue teams have been conducting extensive searches in the river to locate and retrieve his body.

The search operation was continuing till the filing of this report, with rescue personnel scanning the river stretch despite challenging conditions. Officials said efforts would continue until the missing man is traced.
