The missing individual has been identified as Alam Din, son of Nizam-ud-Din, a resident of Seemari Phagwan in Kupwara.

According to officials, Alam Din allegedly jumped into the Kishanganga River on October 24 under mysterious circumstances, prompting an immediate rescue operation by police and SDRF personnel.

Despite relentless efforts by the rescue teams on Friday, the strong current of the river hampered the operation. The search was resumed early Saturday morning with the help of additional manpower and equipment. “Teams from SDRF and police are on the job, and every possible effort is being made to trace the missing person,” an official involved in the operation said.

Locals from Teetwal and nearby villages have also joined the search, assisting authorities in scanning the riverbanks and adjoining areas. Authorities said the operation will continue until the body is recovered. [KNT]
