SRINAGAR: Search operations resumed on Thursday along the River Jhelum as the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Quick Reaction Team (QRT) continued efforts to locate the body of an unidentified individual who had jumped from Budshah Bridge a day earlier.
Officials said the operation, led by SDRF QRT Jhelum, was restarted early in the morning after being halted overnight due to poor visibility and safety concerns.
According to officials, an unidentified boy had leapt into the River Jhelum from Budshah Bridge in the Lal Chowk area of Srinagar late Wednesday evening, prompting an immediate rescue response. Despite initial attempts, the body could not be traced on the same day.
Rescue teams, comprising trained SDRF personnel equipped with boats and necessary gear, are now scanning the river stretch in coordination with local police to locate the body.
Authorities confirmed that the identity of the individual remains unknown, and no further details have emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.
