SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference President Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday said that they intend to contest the forthcoming elections as part of the INDIA alliance, with ongoing discussions regarding seat sharing with the Congress.

Dr Farooq emphasised the necessity of strengthening the INDIA bloc to safeguard the country from what he perceives as the detrimental impact of BJP’s governance over the past decade.

“If the INDIA alliance could not be strengthened we will ourselves put the nation in trouble”, NC President told media persons in Srinagar on Tuesday.

He added that Omar Abdullah maintains communication with the Congress party, and a decision on seat-sharing is expected to emerge in the coming days.

When questioned about former NC leaders joining the BJP, Abdullah remarked that people will come and go. “It is part of the electoral process, where some individuals may join the BJP while others may leave. Such movements will not significantly impact the National Conference.”
