SRINAGAR: The Baramulla district administration has imposed restrictions within a 200-metre radius of examination centres on designated dates during the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education’s (JKBOSE) annual regular Class 10, 11 and 12 examinations, scheduled from October 19 to November 30, 2026.
The restrictions have been ordered under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the examinations.
According to an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate, Baramulla, on October 14, the restrictions will remain in force from 10 am until the conclusion of the examinations on the specified dates.
Under the order, candidates will be allowed to enter examination centres only after verification of their identity cards or admit cards. Examination staff, including superintendents, invigilators, observers, deputy superintendents, frisking supervisors, authorised videographers and other support personnel, must produce photo identity cards and undergo biometric verification wherever applicable.
Candidates will not be permitted to leave examination halls before the stipulated time except in exceptional circumstances and with prior authorisation. The order also prohibits unauthorised persons from entering the restricted area around examination centres.
The administration has barred candidates from carrying unauthorised material into examination halls, including mobile phones, electronic devices, calculators, books, notes and other items that could be used for cheating.
The order further prohibits gatherings of more than five people within the 200-metre radius of designated examination centres. The use of public address systems and loudspeakers has also been prohibited between noon and 4 pm.
The restrictions will not apply to law enforcement agencies, magistrates and persons involved in the conduct of the examinations.
The Additional District Magistrate has warned that violations of the order will invite punitive action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
