Intervening during a discussion on the withdrawal of security cover from the National Conference headquarters and several legislators, Rather said those who have faced such situations are better aware of the risks involved.

He noted that despite claims of improvement, the situation still requires caution. He emphasised that in view of past security incidents, vigilance must be maintained and security cannot be treated casually.

Rather further said that if the administration believes the situation has fully normalised, it should clearly declare Jammu and Kashmir a risk-free region.

He also expressed hope that the concerns raised by legislators would be taken seriously by the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Lieutenant Governor’s administration faced criticism in the Assembly over law and order, with members across party lines condemning the assassination attempt on former chief minister Farooq Abdullah as a serious security lapse.
