During the CASO, security forces fired speculative shots to ensure the safety of the soldiers and police personnel involved in the operation.

The operation was suspended overnight but resumed with the first light this morning. Despite heavy rain, the security forces continued the CASO and advanced into the area.

Since April 28, security forces have been on a manhunt to trace hiding militantss after a Village Defence Guard (VDG) member was killed in the upper reaches of Basantgarh in Udhampur district. This was followed by several terror incidents in the Kathua and Doda districts, keeping the forces on high alert.

Meanwhile, security forces also launched a massive manhunt in Kastigarh after receiving information about the presence of suspects in the area.

“Security forces received information about suspected individuals inside a home in Kastigarh but did not find anyone. Forces also met with locals and requested information regarding the movement of militants,” said an official (KNO).
