SRINAGAR: Security forces on Tuesday launched a large-scale anti-terror operation in the upper reaches of Kathua district, following intelligence inputs about suspected terrorist movement in the region.
Official said that the operation was launched in Lowang and Sarthal areas of Bani on Tuesday morning. “It involves a coordinated effort by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF),” they said. “The operation is part of an ongoing area domination exercise aimed at neutralising potential threats and ensuring the safety of civilians.”
They said security forces are conducting thorough search operations in dense forests and remote areas of Kathua. The operation has been ongoing for several days, with forces maintaining a high level of alertness to prevent any untoward incidents.
“The operation was prompted by credible information about the presence of suspected terrorists in the region. The focus is on dismantling any possible terror infrastructure and securing the area,” they added.
As of now, the operation has concluded peacefully in some locations, with no reports of casualties or contact with militants. (KNO)
