SRINAGAR: Security forces on Thursday night recovered and defused an improvised explosive device (IED) in the Janbazpora area of Baramulla district, officials said.
A senior police officer said that the explosive device was detected during routine patrolling, following which the area was immediately cordoned off to ensure public safety.
“A bomb disposal squad was promptly summoned, and the device was successfully neutralised on the spot without any loss of life or damage to property,” the officer said.
After the operation, the area was thoroughly searched and sanitised as a precautionary measure. Further investigation into the matter has been initiated, the official added. (KNC)
